Daniel Arsham (b. 1980) is a true multi-disciplinary artist, one of the most inventive young Americans working (simultaneously) in different spheres. 

Originally from Miami, Arsham's career was launched after designing sets for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company (although his background was not in stage design). This was followed by a carte-blanche invitation from Dior to design some of their dressing rooms in the Los Angeles boutique. In 2007 he co-founded  with Alex Mustonen to focus on projects with an architectural bent. They had a significant and impressive presence at several incarnations of Design Miami.  

This sculpture, now heavily sought-after on the secondary market, comes from his highly-desirable “Future Relic” series.  

With the “Future Relic” series (2013–2018), Arsham imagines a variety of everyday objects as archeological discoveries from a future, dystopian world. The camera appears as a damaged artifact, illustrating how new technologies can quickly become obsolete. 

Each of the "Future Relics" have been augmented by a short film created by the artist starring actors such as James Franco, Juliette Lewis, and Mahershala Ali.
